Dental auxiliary

Can be a dental assistant, hygienist, or laboratory technician

Direct supervision

A level of supervision in which the dentist is physically present when expanded functions are being performed by the dental auxiliary

Expanded function

A specific intraoral function delegated to an auxiliary that requires increased skill and training
