Line Graphs and Bar Graphs

pictograph

a graph that uses pictures or symbols to show data

bar graph

A graph that uses the height or length of rectangles to compare data.

line plot

A diagram showing frequency of data on a number line.

table

An organized way to list data. Tables usually have rows and columns of data.

key

A part of a map, graph, or chart that explains what the symbols mean.

scale (on a graph)

The numbers that show
the units used on a
graph.

title

tells you what information you will find in the graph

Double Bar Graph

A bar graph that shows information about two different things for each of the given values on the axis.

Continuous Data

Information that continues over time and allows us to make predictions about future events.

Increments

These are the count-bys on a graph. Sometimes we count by 1's and sometimes we use much larger count-bys (ex. by 5's).

survey

a list of questions used to collect information or opinions
