Anesthesologist

Administers medications to cause loss of sensation or feeling during surgery or treatments.

Cardiologist

Treats diseases of the heart and blood vessels.

Dermatologist

Treats diseases of the skin.

Gastroenterologist

Treats diseases and disorders of the stomach and intestine.

Gerontologist

Treats diseases of elderly individuals.

Gynecologist

Treats diseases of the female reproductive organs.

Neurologist

Treats disorders of the brain and nervous system.

Obstetrician

A doctor who specializes in pregnancy, labor, and delivery.

Oncologist

physician who specializes in diagnosing and treating malignant disorders such as tumors and cancer.

Ophthalmologist

a medical doctor specializing in the treatment of diseases of the eye.

Orthopedist

doctor who corrects abnormalities in bones and joints.

Otolaryngologist

physician who specializes in diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, and throat diseases.

Pathologist

specialist in the study of disease.

Pediatrician

physician specializing in the treatment of babies/children.

Psychiatrist

a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders; can prescribe medication.

Radiologist

a medical specialist who uses radioactive substances and X-rays in the treatment of disease.

Thoracic surgeon

surgery of the lungs, heart, or chest cavity.

Urologist

diseases of the kidney, bladder, or urinary system.

Occupational therapist

One who works with clients who are mentally, physically, developmentally, and/or emotionally disabled to help these individuals become more independent and productive.

Occupational therapist assistant

a health professional who works under an occupational therapist and practices occupational therapy. Referred to as technical level. Must have two year associates degree.

Pharmacist

a health professional trained in the art of preparing and dispensing drugs.

Pharmacy technician

an individual working in a pharmacy who, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assists in activities not requiring the professional judgment of a pharmacist; also called the pharmacy tech or tech.

Physical therapist

therapist who treats injury or dysfunction with exercises and other physical treatments of the disorder.

Physical Therapy Assistant

A health care specialist who works with physical therapist to assist in developing treatments for the rehabilitation of injury.

Massage Therapist

an individual trained to use touch to provide relaxation, stress reduction, health promotion, pain management and injury recovery.

Recreational Therapist

Person who help people with disabilities to improve their qualities of life using games, sports, arts, and life skills.

Respiratory Therapist

allied health care professional who specializes in airway management, mechanical ventilation, and blood acid-base balance.

Speech-language Therapist/Pathologist

Treats speech disorders.

Athletic Trainer

Works with attending and /or consulting physicians as an integral part of the health care team associated with physical training and sports.

Perfusionist

Operate transfusion equipment when neccessary and consults with physicians in selecting the appropriate equipment, techniques, and transfusion media to be used, depending upon the patient's condition.

Body Mechanics

The proper use of the body to facilitate lifting and moving and preventing injury.

Veterinarian

medical doctor specializing in the treatment of animals.

Veterinary Technician

Graduate of an accredited program in Veterinary Technology
- Obtains associate degree or certificate.

Veterinary Assistant

A person with training, knowledge, and skills at the level of a clinical aide - less that required for a veterinary technician. May clean, restrain patients, answer phones, record client complaints etc. No schooling needed.
