Equine Positioning

Coffin Bone - lateral

-Foot Placement: on positioner so that
hoof is as close to medial edge
as possible
-Cassette Placement: medial aspect
of limb
-Center Beam:coronary band

Coffin Bone - dorsopalmar

-Foot placement: heal is as close to
the caudal edge as possible
-Cassette Placement:caudal to limb as close
as possible
-Center Beam: Standing cranial to the limb, beam
parallel to the ground, aiming at
coronary band

Coffin bone - oblique (DMPL)

-Center Beam: Standing cranial & medial to the leg, angle the beam 45 degrees from the ground & direct it medially (45 degrees medial to a true DP view), just distal to the coronary band

Coffin bone - oblique (DLPM)

-Center Beam: Standing cranial & lateral to the leg, angle the 45 degrees from the ground and direct it laterally (45 degrees lateral to a true DP view) just distal to the coronary band

Navicular bone - lateral

Foot placement: hoof is as close to medial edge as
possible
Cassette Placement: medial aspect of
limb
Center Beam:coronary band
*possible decrease of FFD

Navicular Bone Skyline view

Foot placement: caudally w/heel rotated outward
Cassette Placement: use cassette tunnel rather than regular cassette/foot elevator.
Center Beam: directed proximal to distal along the
palmar margin of the foot
aka: Palmar-Proximal Palmar-Distal Oblique

Navicular Bone
D65Pr-PaDi Oblique (method 1)

Foot placement: in groove of navicular box
Cassette Placement: in the slot caudally to navicular box
Center Beam: Beam parallel
to the floor, aim beam at coronary
band
