darkness

you must put on your headlights by a half hour after sunset, to a half hour before sunrise
how you know: 1. know the time of sunset and sun rise 2. when others have them on 3. when the street lights come on

lights in the daytime

you put them on when it is raining, snowing or in the fog that other drivers see you

high beams

you put them on dark lonely roads , you shut them off driving towards someone, behind someone, and in the fog

if someone comes towards you with their high beams on

flash yours once or twice, and look to the right side of the road to avoid the glare

sun glare

have a pair of sunglasses in the glove compartment

fog

reduce speed, if possible do not stop the car

rain

the most slippery time of rain is in the beginning the first coating

hydroplaning

when your tires ride on top of the water, due to speed of the car or baldness of your tires

deep water

if possible do not go through deep water fast because the car may stall and your brakes get wet

to dry the brakes

press of them firmly while the car is moving

snow

may cause the car to skid if you
1. accelerate too hard
2. brake to hard
3. turned too fast

getting out of a skid without antilock breaks

take your foot off the brake or gas and turn the wheel the way you want to go

abs

keep you foot foot on the brake and steer the way you want want to go

stopping quickly on the snow

shift to low gear and pump the brakes

getting out of the snow

keep the tires straight and accelerate gently
