Used to hold fabric together temporarily

Seam Ripper

Remove stitches from fabric: slip the point under the stitch and cut the thread with the small knife located in the valley.

Tape Measure

Flexible ruler used to take body measurements.

Tailors Chalk

Chalk used to mark fabric,hem lines.

Hem Gauge

Metal ruler used to press up hems, can iron it because it is small.

Pin Cushion

Used to store pins,filled with saw dust

Pressure Foot

Applies pressure on fabric when sewing must be pulled down in order to sew

Serger

Finishes the raw edge of the fabric, trims seam allowance

Embroidery hoops

Pulls fabric tight when using the embroidery machine: small top hoop is fit inside bottom hoop with fabric sandwiches in between.

Holds thread for the underside of stitch

Foot Pedal

Words like gas pedal,controls the speed of the machine

Iron

Used to smooth wrinkles out of fabric, strengthen stitches. Check it before you use it to make sure nothing is melted on it.

Needle used in sewing machine. Flat part of the needle faces the back of the machine when replacing it.

used to transfer markings from pattern piece to fabric: markings are used to match fabric pieces when sewing.
