Pointing Device

Pointer
An arrow on the screen that indicates the position of the pointing device
Window
Small work area displayed on the computer to show files or folders
Taskbar
Displays icons of the programs you have open or that run in the background
Close button
Used to close a window or a file you have open
Scroll bar
Appears on the edge of a window any time there is more content than can appear in the window
Menu
It contains commands for starting actions or tasks. It appears when you click on buttons to show options
Folder
Stores the files you use for your projects such as documents. It is a way to organize files
Recycle bin
The waste basket icon on the desktop to store unused items for later deletion
Windows Security Center
Monitors critical security components on your computer such as a firewall
Help and Support
A windows program to provide assistance and trouble shooting. It is used as a quick reference
Personal Folder
A folder that stores your most frequently used folders
Documents Folder
Stores the files you use for projects such as documents or presentations
Scroll Arrows
Located at the end of a scroll bar and used to move the window content in a certain direction
Scroll Box
The slider that indicates your position within the window
Maximize button
Makes a window full screen or larger
Restore Down button
Returns a window to the original size
Minimize button
Makes a window smaller in order to view other windows at the same time
Public Folder
Used to store the files you want to share with other users
Navigation Pane
Used to help find files, it includes favorite links to folders containing the items you use most including recent searches
Address Bar
Identifies the path for the currently open folder
Explorer Windows
Used to navigate to items on your computer
