Post extraction dressings

often call dry socket packs, are placed in a dry socket.

Alveolar Osteitis

occurs after oral surgery (sometimes).

Dry Socket Pack

takes place of the missing clot. It soothes the tissue and assists in the healing process.

Material is left in place

for 24-48 hours, after this time the pack is removed and the area is checked for healing.

Pack is changed

every few days until healing occurs (usually within 2 weeks)

Removes accumulated debris in the alveolus

Gauze Pack

helps to prevent food from being packed into the alveolus.

Iodoform

iodoform in the gauze is a topical antiseptic that helps prevent infection

Dentalone Solution

contains obtundent medications that soothe the nerve endings in the exposed bone.

Frequent Recall

keeps the wound clean and freshens the medications, which diminish in their effect quickly
