Ex Works (EXW)

The price the seller quotes only applies at the point of origin.
The importer takes possession of the shipment at the point of origin and bears all risks and costs associated with transporting the goods to final destination.

F-Terms

-Obligate the exporter to incur the cost of delivering the shipment cleared for export to the carrier designated by the importer
-The importer selects and incurs the cost of main transportation insurance, and customs clearance

Free Carrier (FCA)

-Used with any mode
-Risk of damage is transferred to the importer when the exporter delivers the goods to the international carrier named by the importer

Free Alongside Ship (FAS)

-Used only with water
-Risk of damage is transferred to the importer when the goods are delivered alongside the ship

Free On Board (FOB)

-Used only with water
-Risk of damage is transferred to the importer when the shipment is actually loaded on the vessel

C-Terms

Shipment contracts that obligate the exporter to obtain and pay for main carriage, and in some cases, cargo insurance

Cost and Freight (CFR)

-Used only with water
-Exporter incurs all costs to the port of destination
-The importer assumes all risk once the goods are onboard the vessel and is responsible for all activities after arriving at destination

Cost, Insurance, Freight (CIF)

-Used only with water transportation
-Exporter bears cost of freight & insurance to the destination port
-Importer is responsible for all activities and costs after the goods arrive at destination

Carriage Paid To (CPT)

-Used with any mode
-Exporter incurs all cost of freight to a destination but IS NOT responsible for insurance
-Importer assumes all risks during the delivery process and is responsible for all activities and costs after the goods arrive at the named plac

Carriage and Insurance Paid To (CIP)

-Used with any mode
-Exporter incurs cost of freight to a named destination and is responsible for insurance
-Importer is responsible for all actives and costs after the goods arrive at final destination

D-Terms

-Obligate the exporter to incur all costs related to delivery of the shipment
-All D terms require the exporter to incur all costs and the risk of damage to a named delivery point and can be used for all modes

Delivery at Terminal (DAT)

-Exporter is responsible for transportation and incurs risk of damaged goods until delivered to a named terminal
-Then, the importer is responsible for import clearance & and further in-country carriage

Delivered at Place (DAP)

-Requires the exporter to pay for the main carriage and to deliver goods to the importer's facility or to a normal place/location other than a terminal
-The, importer is responsible for import clearance & any further in-country carriage

Delivered Duty Paid (DDP)

-Exporter assumes all responsibility for all costs in delivering the goods to a named place of destination and for clearing customs in the country
-Exporter provides door-to-door delivery, bearing the entire risk of loss until goods are delivered to the i
