Point, Lines and Planes

Point

A location that has no size or shape. Named with a dot and a capital letter.

Line

A straight path that has thickness and extends infinitely in all direction. Two ways to name line: "line l" or "XY (line with two arrows)".

Plane

A flat surface that extends infinitely in all directions. Two ways to name planes: "Plane ABC" or "Plane R".

Segment

Part of a line consisting of two endpoints and all points in between. Name a segment by its endpoint with a bar over the top.

Ray

Part of a line that starts at an endpoint and extends forever in one direction. Name a ray with its endpoint and any other point on the ray with the arrow symbol on top.

Opposite Rays

Two rays sharing the same endpoint that make a straight line.

Collinear

Points that lie on the same line.

Non-collinear

points not on the same line

Coplanar

Points that lie on the same plane.

Non-coplaner

points that do not lie on the same plane

skew

Lines that do not intersect, are not parallel, and not on the same plane
