Has no answer, expression that has no meaning

Undetermined

Unable to determine one single answer

Factor Noun

Part of a product; a multiplier

Factor verb

To do; write an equivalent expression that is a product

Numerator

Top of the fraction, the number of parts you are taking.

Denominator

Bottom of fraction, the number of parts available

Constant

A known number, constantly that value

Variable

A letter that represents an unknown number

Coefficient

A number in front of a variable, a numeric multiplier

Term

A number, a variable, or a product or quotient of numbers and variables that are being added or subtracted

Like Term

Has the same base and exponent

inequality

A way to compare numbers. Symbols

Exponent

Used to represent repeated multiplication. Also known as a power.

Expression

An expression is a mathematical statement with no equal sign. Can be simplified or evaluated- NOT solved

Rational Expression

A quotient of two polynomials

Simplify

Get rid of the unnecessary, reduce

Evaluate

Substitute in a number(s) and come up with a value, plug n' chug

Equation

Contains an equal sign and asks a mathematical question. Has one or more solutions.

Solve

To find a number of number that make the equation true

Formula

An equation that uses numbers or letters to represent a relationship between two or more numbers.

Quantity

An amount, either represented by a single number or combo of #s

Polynomial

A monomial or a sum or difference of monomial terms

Solution

A number that makes an equation true

Input

Independent quantity/variable

Output

Plane

2 perpendicular number lines together at their origin

Quadrant

1 or 4 locations on a coordinate plane. Starting with roman numerals in the top right and going counterclockwise

Slope

Rate of change, change in 2 quantities. How fast or slow something is increasing or decreasing. Symbol m

Slope intercept form of a line

y=mx+b

Point Slope Form

y-y1=m(x-x1) where m is the slope and (x1,y1) is a point on the line

Zero Property

If axb=0 then either a=0 or b=0 ie. if two numbers are multiplied together and equal zero then one of the factors must have been zero.

Quadratic equation

An equation where ax^2+bx+c=0 and a,b,c are real numbers

Quadratic Formula

The solutions of ax^2+bx+c=0 are given by x=-b+-sqr b^2-4ac/2a
