a fatal flaw leading to the downfall of a tragic hero or heroine

Hubris

excessive pride

Peripeteia

a sudden reversal of fortune or change in circumstances, especially in reference to fictional narrative.

Anagnorisis

recognition or discovery on the part of the hero; change from ignorance to knowledge

Nemesis

punishment that the hero cannot avoid

Catharsis

feeling of fear and pity the audience feels toward the character

To serve and sacrifice

Mentor

Teacher, usually teaches or guides the hero to their goal

Shadow

Villan. Creates/threatens conflict.

Ally

Someone to help along the way

Shapeshifter

Blurs line in between ally and enemy. Can betray the hero

Trickster

An archetype that represents someone who pretends to be something that he or she is not.

Threshold Guardian

Tests the hero's courage and worthiness to begin the journey

Herald

Announces the need for change in the heroes life
