City Charter

a document that grants power to a local government

Concurrent Powers (Shared)

powers that are shared by both the federal and state government

County

Normally the largest territorial and political subdivision of a state. A part of a state, usually larger than a city, that has its own government.

Federalism

A form of government in which power is divided between the federal, or national, government and the states

Infrastructure

...A community's system of roads, bridges, water and sewers.

Ordinance

A law, usually of a city or county.

Public Policy

The course of action the government takes in response to an issue or problem

Reserved Powers

Powers reserved to the states. Powers that the Constitution does not give to the national government that are kept by the states.

10th amendment

Amendment stating that the powers not delegated to the federal gov. are reserved to the states. Powers not given to the national government belong to the states or to the people.
