Bite Registration Material

The type of material is used to take a patient's bite. Can be two part putty.

Impression Material Gun

Gun used for extruding heavy body, light body and bite registration materials

Triple Tray

The disposable tray used to record the prepared tooth, a bite registration, and a final impression

Bite Registration

Records the way the patient occludes the maxillary and mandibular teeth also used to make temp crown

Core Build Up Material

Used when there is not enough healthy tooth left for proper crown placement. Delivery systems may vary greatly.

Lab Slip

Instructions sent with the impression to the dental lab includes information about the patient and is a prescription

Retraction Paste

Retraction paste used to move tissue away from the crown prep.

Retraction Cord

Placed in gingival sulcus to facilitate crown and bridge impression

Cord Packer

Place retraction cord into the gingival sulcus to control bleeding and retain gingival retraction.

Compression Cap

A Short cotton roll with a concave end used for tissue retraction and to control bleeding

Light Body Impression Material

Small, yellow tip more exact to capture the margin of the prep. Goes directly onto the prep

Heavy Body Impression Material

Larger teal p heaver material that makes up the bulk of the impression. Goes in tray and uses lager tip.

Final Impression

The last, most exact impression that is sent to the lab

made or custom made

Temporary Cement

Used to cement temp. crown which will need to be removed in a short period of time.

Pontic

Artificial tooth that replaces a missing natural tooth in a bridge or the "tooth part of an implant

Abutment

A tooth, root, or implant used for support and retention of a fixed or removable prosthesis

Full Cast Crown

Made of gold or metal alloy and covers the entire anatomic crown (FCC)

Inlay

A gold, or porcelain, indirect restoration that covers the area between the cusps in the middle of the tooth and the proximal surfaces

Onlay

A gold, or porcelain, indirect restoration that covers one or more cusps of a tooth;

Partial Crown

Gold or porcelain restoration covering three or more cusps of the tooth but not all

Indirect Restoration

Fabricated outside the mouth in a lab or using a CAD/CAM cemented into place

Direct Restoration

Placed in the mouth after the tooth is prepared; examples include amalgam or composite restorations
