1. Education related to hemorrhagic cystitis
-Sudden onset of bleeding with urination
-Pain with urination
-Pain in abdomen
2. Increase fluids to help with occurrence of hemorrhagic cystitis

Used for solid and hematologic tumors (malignant lymphoma, multiple myeloma, leukemia; malignant neoplasms of lung)
May also be given for prophylaxis of organ rejection and bone marrow transplant through immunosuppressive effects

Teaching for L-asparginase?

1. Close monitoring of kidney labs
2. Close monitoring of output from patient
3. Monitor of blood sugars in all patients, especially diabetics
4.Neurotoxic (monitor for CNS depression)
