Diencephalon

Part of the forebrain between the cerebral hemispheres and the midbrain including the thalamus, the third ventricle, and the hypothalamus

A mass of gray matter in the diencephalon of the brain

Hypothalamus

The region of the diencaphalon forming the floor of the third ventricle of the brain
