Head of the rib?
*At the posterior end
*Articulates with two vertebral bodies
*one at the body of the same number and one at the superior body.
Neck of the rib?
Thin portion just before the head.
Tubercle of the rib?
*Knoblike, just below the head
*Articulates with the transverse process of the same numbered vertebrae.
First pair of the rib?
*Differs from the others.
*Flattened from the superior to inferior aspect and more broad.
*Rib 1 and ribs 10-12 articulate with only one vertebral body and ribs
*11 and 12 do not articulate with a transverse process.
