Angle Pair Relationships

ADJACENT ANGLES

Two angles that share a common endpoint but no common interior points. The angles will always add up to a bigger angle.

VERTICAL ANGLES

Two non-adjacent angles that are formed by intersecting lines. They make a bow tie and they are congruent.

LINEAR PAIR

A pair of adjacent angles that make a straight angle. These angles are supplementary.

COMPLEMENTARY ANGLES

Two angles that add up to 90. These angles do not have to be adjacent but if they are they make a right angle.

SUPPLEMENTARY ANGLES

Two angles that add up to 180. These angles don't have to be adjacent but a Linear Pair is an example of adjacent supplementary angles.

Right Angle

an angle that measures 90 degrees

Acute Angle

An angle that measures less than 90 degrees but more than 0 degrees

Obtuse Angle

An angle that measures more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees

Straight Angle

an angle that measures exactly 180 degrees
