What is metamorphosis?

When an organism goes through many stages to reach adulthood.

What is complete metamorphosis?

The insect goes through 4 stages starts off as an egg, larva, pupa, then adult.

What are examples of insects that go through complete metamorphosis?

* Butterfly
* Bee
* Beetles

What does a larva look like?

A worm or caterpillar.

What is a pupa?

It's the time when an insect is changing into an adult in a cocoon.

What is incomplete metamorphosis?

The insect goes through 3 stages stars off as an egg,then is a nymph ,then adult.

What are examples of insects that go through incomplete metamorphosis?

* Grasshoppers
* Crickets
* roaches

What is a nymph?

It looks like a small adult without the wings. Nymphs molt several times before becoming an adult.

What is a trait ?

A characteristic of a living thing .Traits are inherited.

What are some examples inherited traits ?

Spines on a cactus
shape of a birds beak
color of your skin

How do traits like hooves on prairie animals help them?

Protects their feet from getting hurt.

How do traits like webbed feet help aquatic animals?

Helps them swim.

Are instincts inherited or learned?

INHERITED.

What are examples of instincts?

Baby crying

Do instincts help organisms survive?

YES.

What is a behavior ?

How a living thing acts or responds to it's environment. Behaviors are learned.

What are examples of learned behaviors?

An animal learning tricks
A child riding a bicycle.

What is the difference between an instinct and a learned behavior?

An instinct is a behavior that is inherited from it's parents, but a learned behavior is taught and learned after birth.

Why are instincts and learned behaviors important?

They help you survive in the environment.
