Calculate Minuet Ventilation
Minute volume is the amount of gas inhaled or exhaled from a person's lungs in one minute. It can be measured by a Wright respirometer or other device capable of cumulatively measuring gas flow

VE = VT x RR
Vt will need to be changed from ml to L by /1000

Calculate Tidal Volume Tv or Vt
Amount of volume inhaled or exhaled in one breath.

VE/RR
Vt can be changed to ml by multiplying by 1000

Calculate I Time
Inspiratory time is the time spent inhaling

Vt (in Liters divid by 1000) / Flow (in seconds divide by 60)

Calculate E Time
Expiratory Time is time spent exhaling
TCT total cycle time is the total time for inspiration and expiration 60/RR.

Calculate I:E Ratio
the ratio of the duration of inspiration to the duration of expiration.

IT/IT : ET/IT
Divide I Time into I Time : then divide E Time into I Time

Calculate Peak Inspiratory Pressure PIP
The point of maximum airway pressure

PIP = Raw + Plat
Airway Resistance (Raw) the obstruction of the tracheobronchial tree to air flow + Plateau Pressure (Pplat) the pressure measured at the proximal airway during an end-inspiratory pause; a reflection of alveolar pressure.

Calculate Ideal Body Weight IBW

Male 106 + 6 for every inch over 60 inches
Female 105 + 5 for every inch over 60 inches
Answer will need to be converted from pounds to Kg by dividing by 2.2 or just 2 for fast math.

Calculate Flow ?
Volume per unit of time. Usually measured in L/min or in L/sec by dividing by 60.

Flow = Vt / I Time

Calculate Compliance w/Tube Factor

Cstat = Exhale Vt - Compressible Volume (Tube factor)
/ PIP - PEEP
Cdyn = Exhale Vt - Compressible Volume (Tube factor)
/ Plat - PEEP

Calculate Compliance
Dynamic compliance falls when either stiffness or airway resistance increases
Static compliance is measures the stiffness of the lungs. Static is > than Dynamic

Dynamic Compliance Cdyn = Exhale Vt/ PIP-PEEP
Static Compliance Cstat = Exhale Vt/ Plat - PEEP
