bleed

extra space around your page that is intentionally printed, then trimmed by the printer. (standard size is 1/8)

Byline

a line that gives credit to the author of a story. appear either at the beginning or end of copy.

Endsheet

Heavier sheets of paper which hold the pages of the yearbook to the cover

folio

page number usually at the bottom. also contain the title of your yearbook or yoursection title.

gutter

space between two facing pages

headline

used to introduce the mostimportant fact to the reader.

ladder

A page-by-page listing of the yearbook's contents.

layout

a design plan for a page or spread in a vearbook.

Lead

introductory portion of a news story; usually the first sentence or paragraph.

Modules

a smaller amount of text with accompanying photos that supports a page's main story.

Pica

unit of measurement equal to 1/6 of an inch and 12 points.
