Zeus

Leader of the gods (Dad was Cronus). Killed father, became king. Married Hera. Known for lightning Bolt.

Hera

Queen of the gods. Married Zeus, jealous.

Athena

Daughter of Metis, born through Zeus's head, god of wisdom and strategy Arachne: Challenges Athena to a weaving competetion, loses and is turned into a spider.

Poseidon

God of seas, known for trident, horses and earthquakes.

Hades

God of underworld, married Persephone. Known for Cerberus and Wealth.

Cerberus

Three headed dog that guards hades

Demeter

Wife of Poseidon, goddess of planting, harvesting, and growing. Mother of Persephone

The Twins

Their names were Artemis and Apollo, children of Zeus and Leto Artemis: Goddess of moon, maiden of the silver bow, lady of wild things, huntress.

Apollo

God of the sun, patron of music, poetry, math, and medicine. Gold hair, stormy blue eyes, golden bow & arrows

Asclepius

Son of Apollo, great doctor, killed by Hades.

Hermes

Messenger god. Invented alphabet, astronomy, and cards. Wore winged sandals, engaged with humans

Hephaestus

Ugly, rejected by mother (Hera). Raised by Thetis. Smith god

Aphrodite

Goddess of love and beauty. Took Hephaestus as husband

Prometheus

Gave man fire, Zeus was upset, so he was tortured by vultures

Pandora

Opened box of curses

Phaethon

Son of Apollo. Raced Epaphus, boasted and lied, swore by river styx, died from riding in Apollo's chariot too close to the sun.

Orpheus

Son of Calliope and the Thracian King. Poet and musician. Brought Eurydice back from hades with his music, but looked back and lost her

Narcissus and Echo

Most beautiful boy, and most beloved nymph. One was cursed with repetition and the other fell in love with himself.

Eros and Psyche

Fell in love. One was invisible. One couldn't bear to have an invisible husband, looked at him when he was sleeping, then they could no longer be together.

Arion

Son of Poseidon, helped by dolphin, called 2nd Orpheus, constellation named after him

Perseus

Son of Zeus. Killed Medusa, his grandfather, and a giant serpant. Arrogant and brave

Daedalus

Killed nephew. Great inventor. Created Labyrinth that he was trapped in for helping the queen.

Icarus

Son of Daedulas, his wings fell apart because he flew too high.

Theseus

Secretly son of Posiedon. Defeated the Minotaur in the Labyrinth. Forgot to raise white sails so his rumored father (King of Athens) killed himself. Became king of Athens.

Midas

Loved gold. Turned daughter to Gold

Pygmalion

Wanted to marry Aphrodite, but married her statue
