white robe worn over street clothes by priests, deacons and altar servers

Chasuble

Colored vestment worn only by the priest

Dalmatic

Vestment worn only by the deacon

Altar

the table of the Lord in the Sanctuary

Tabernacle

the ornate receptacle used to place the Body of Christ

Ambo

the place where the Word of God is proclaimed

Paschal Candle

the large ornate candle lit at Baptisms, Funerals and on Easter until Pentecost

Altar Cloth

the tablecloth for the altar - always white

Corporal

Small white cloth placed in the center of the Altar

Chalice

gold cup used by the priest/Eucharistic ministers which holds the Blood of Christ

Purificator

small white cloth used with the chalice to purify after communion

Paten

small dish usually used with the chalice on which the large host is placed for consecration

Ciborium

gold cup with a lid which holds the Body of Christ used by the priest/Eucahristic ministers to distribute communion and to store the Body of Christ in the Tabernacle.

Pall

1. Stiff, white board placed over the chalice

Credence table

Table where the chalice, lavabo/finger towel, and cruet tray are placed in preparation for Mass. Occasionaly, additional ciboria not being brought up in the offertory will be placed on this table.

Offertory table

table where the gifts are placed (usually cruets of water and wine and 2 ciboria)

Prepared Chalice

Chalice with purificator draped over it, the paten with large host placed on top, and covered by the pall
