Style
A named collection of character and paragraph formats that are stored together and can be applied to text to format it quickly.
Template
A formatted document that contains placeholder text you can replace with new text. A file that contains the basic structure of a document including headers and footers, styles, and graphical elements.
Style Set
A named set of format settings that can be applied to a document to format it all at once. The style set includes both font and paragraph settings.
Styles

Styles Gallery
Location where all the styles associated with a style set are stored; you access the style gallery by clicking the more button in the styles group on the home tab.
Paragraph Style
A named set of paragraph and character format settings that can be applied to a paragraph to format it all at once.
Character Style
A named set of character format settings that can be applied to text to format it all at once; you use a character style to apply format settings only to select text within a paragraph.
Linked Style
A named set of format settings that are applied either to characters within a paragraph or to the entire paragraph, depending on whether the entire paragraph or specific text is selected.
Table Style
A named set of table format settings that can be applied to a table to format it all at once. The Table style includes settings for both the table grid and the table text.
List Style
A named set of format settings, such as indent and outline numbering, that you can apply to a list to format it all at once.
Normal Template
The paragraph style that is used by default to format text typed in a blank Word document
Styles Task Pane
Contains all the styles available to the current document and the buttons to access the Style Inspector, the Reveal Formatting task pane, and the Manage Styles dialog box.
Style Inspector
Lists the styles applied to the selected text and indicates if any extra formats were applied that are not included in the style.
Reveal Formatting Task Pane
Lists exactly which formats are applied to the character, paragraph, and section of the selected text.
