Forms of Energy 2

Energy

The ability to do work

Potential Energy

The energy stored in an object or substance by way of its height or position

Kinetic Energy

The energy of object or substances in motion

Thermal Energy

The total energy of motion in the particles of a substance measure by temperature

Radiant Energy

Electromagnetic energy that travels in transverse waves and produces light

Nuclear Energy

The potential energy stored in the nucleus of an atom

Mechanical Energy

Kinetic or potential energy associated with the motion or position of an object like a compressed spring or turning gears

Gravitational Energy

Potential energy that depends on the height and mass of an object

Sound Energy

The energy from a vibrating object producing sound waves

Chemical Energy

A form of potential energy that is stored in chemical bonds between atoms.

Electrical Energy

Energy caused by the movement of electrons.

Elastic Energy

Energy stored in an object when force is applied, when stretched or compressed.

Law of Conservation of Energy

Energy cannot be created or destroyed; but it can change form and be moved
