Exposition

the introduction of the story; setting, characters, and the conflict are introduced

Rising Action

the main part of the story in which the conflict builds in excitement and develops as the events move along

Climax

the TURNING POINT of story; the point in which something happens to bring about a change in the story

Falling Action

events begin to FALL into place to lead to the conclusion of the story; the excitement dies down

Plot

the series of events or episodes that make up a story.

Setting

The time and place of a story; may create the mood

Conflict

the problem or struggle in the story

Protagonist

hero or main character in a story.

Antagonist

who or what causes conflict for the main character.

Resolution

The end of the story

The central idea or message of a work: teaches a lesson about life
