First person: The narrator is telling about himself/herself
Second person: The narrator is talking about YOU, the reader.
Third person: The narrator is telling about someone else. (He...She...They....)

alliteration

Several words that begin with the same letter or sound.
ex. 1. Rachel read rapidly while resting in the red recliner.

imagery

Words and sentences that make a picture in your mind (The golden leaves shimmered in the wind.)

literary device

The use of language to create a particular effect or sound when read aloud.

metaphor

A comparison of two unlike things without using the word like or as.

onomatopoeia

A word that imitates the sound it represents.

simile

A comparison using "like" or "as

rhythm

The beat and blow of syllables in a poem or in any text

Repetition of sounds at the end of words

personification

A figure of speech in which an object or animal is given human feelings, thoughts, or attitudes
