Supported the constitution and believed that a strong central gov't was necessary to keep the country together.

Anti-Federalist

Anti-constitution. Did not support the constitution because they believed a strong central gov't would TAKE AWAY PEOPLES RIGHTS. Wanted a BILL OF RIGHTS!!

A change or addition to the Constitution.

1st Amendment
Gives freedoms of...

Guarantees freedom of religion, speech, the press, and the rights of assembly, and petition.

2nd Amendment
"Right to bear arms", which means

The right to own a gun.

3rd Amendment
No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house,without the consent of the owner" means.....

Citizens cannot be forced to house soldiers.

4th Amendment
"Protects the people from unreasonable searches and seizures" which means....

Law enforcement must have warrants to carry out searches as well as to take peoples belongings.

6th Amendment
"Guarantees a speedy trial impartial jury, an attorney (lawyer)" which means...

Anyone accused of a crime is decided innocent or guilty by a group of citizens within a reasonable amount of years.

8th Amendment
"Protects the people from excessive bails/fines." which means....

People can pay reasonable bails/fines to get out of jail.

9th Amendment
"All rights that are not mentioned in the constitution and don't go against the constitution belong to the states or PEOPLE," means...

People still have all the rights that are not listed in the Constitution.

10th Amendment
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people," means...

Gives all powers not specifically given to the United States government in the Constitution, to either the states or to the people.
