Alliteration

It is the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words

Antithesis

two opposite ideas are put together in a sentence to achieve a contrasting effect.

climax

is a figure of speech in which words, phrases, or clauses are arranged in order of increasing importance.

Epizeuxis

is the repetition of a word or phrase in immediate succession, typically within the same sentence, for vehemence or emphasis.

Metanoia

It is used to recall a statement in two ways: to weaken prior to declaration or to strengthen it

Polysyndeton

It is a stylistic device in which several coordinating conjunctions are used in succession in order to achieve an artistic effect.

Allusion

a brief or indirect reference to a person, place, thing, or idea of cultural, literary, or political significance. It does not describe in detail the person or thing to which it refers.

Apophasis

It is a rhetorical device wherein the speaker or writer brings up a subject by either denying it, or denying that it should be brought up. Accordingly, it can be seen as a rhetorical relative of irony.

Conduplicatio

Figure of repetition in which the key word or words in one phrase, clause, or sentence is/are repeated at or near the beginning of successive sentences, clauses, or phrases; repetition of a key word over successive phrases or clauses.

Epanalepsis

It is the repetition of initial words at the end of the same clause or sentence.

Hypotaxis

is a formal way of saying that a sentence contains subordinate clauses or phrases that merely build on and add to the main clause.

Parenthesis

A form of hyperbaton, consists of a word, phrase, or whole sentence inserted as an aside in the middle of another sentence.

Synecdoche

a figure of speech that uses a term that denotes one thing to refer to a related thing.

Antimetabole

The repetition of words in successive clauses, but in transposed order.

Litotes

Ironic understatement in which an affirmative is expressed by the negative of its contrary

Personification

the attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form.

Understatement

Understatement is a figure of speech used to intentionally make a situation seem less important than it actually is.

Antiphrasis

is a figurative speech in which a phrase or word is employed in a way that is opposite to its literal meaning, in order to create an ironic or comic effect. In simple words, it is the use of phrases or words in their opposite sense from the real meaning.

Chiasmus

A rhetorical device in which two or more clauses are balanced against each other by the reversal of their structures in order to produce an artistic effect

Epithet

An adjective or descriptive phrase expressing a quality characteristic of the person or thing mentioned.
