FCC

Federal Communications Commission - regulates the television and radio industry, grants licenses to television and radio stations, and blocks monopolies.

SEC

Securities and Exchange Commission, an independent federal agency that oversees the exchange of securities (stocks and government bonds) to protect investors

FTC

Federal Trade Commission. Protects consumers from misleading and fraudulent advertising. Reviews advertising claims. Can order a company to change their ad.

CPSC

Consumer Product Safety Commission: enacts policies for reducing risks of harm from consumer products (Examples of products the commission examines include toys, cribs, power tools, cigarette lighters and household chemicals.)

FDA

Food and Drug Administration. The agency that is responsible for determining if a food or drug is safe and effective enough to be sold to the public.

OSHA

Occupational Safety and Health Administration. A government agency in the Department of Labor created to maintain safe and healthy work environments.

EEOC

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Enforces laws to prevent unfair treatment on the job due to sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, or age.

EPA

Environmental Protection Agency
A federal agency established to reduce pollution, monitor water quality, and protect the environment.
