Magma

Molten material from inside the earth that has not reached the suface of the Earth

Lava

Magma that has reached the surface

Igneous Rock that forms when the magma hardens beneath Earth's surface

Igneous rock that forms when lava cools very dast on the surface of the earth

Sedimentary Rock

A type of rock that fomrs when particles from other rocks or the remains of plants and animals are pressed and cemented together

Weathering

The chemical and physical processes that break down rock on the Earth's surface

Deposition

This happens when sediment, and broken down substances are deposited or laid down somewhere

Cementation

The process in which dissolved minerals crystalize and "glue" or "cements" particles of sediment together

The process that presses sediments together

A sedmentary rock that forms when rock fragments are squeezed together

Organic Rock

A sedimentary rock that forms where the remains of plants and animals are deposited in thick layers

Chemical Rock

A sedimentary rock that forms when minerals that are dissolved in a solution crystalize out.

A type of rock that forms from an existing rock that has changed by heat, pressure or chemical reactions i.e.
