Anaphylactic Shock

Caused by severe allergic reactions. A failure of the cardiovascular system to deliver sufficient amounts of oxygen and nutrients to meet the needs of the boy.

Bradycardia

Abnormally slow heartbeat.

Tachycardia

Rapid heart rate

Heart palpitation

A heartbeat that is unusually strong, fast or irregular so that the person becomes aware of it.

Endocarditis

Inflammation of the interior lining of the heart (endocardium). Massage is postponed until condition has resolved.

Myocarditis

Inflammation of the myocardium (the muscular wall of the heart..
Massage is postponed until condition has resolved.

Pericarditis

Inflammation of the pericardium (sac surrounding the heart). Often causes fluid build-up in the pericardial space, which can compress the heart and impair function.
Massage is postponed until the condition has resolved.

Arteriosclerosis (Hardening of the arteries)

A group of diseases characterized by thickening and loss of elasticity of arterial walls.

Anemia

A reduction is a reduction in the quantity of either red blood cells (RBCs) or hemoglobin, which impairs the blood's ability to carry oxygen to cells. This impairment leads to inadequate oxygen (hypoxia).
Ask which type of anemia. If advanced stages of si

Embolus

An embolism is a medical

Angina Pectoris (Angina)

Chest pain from temporary reduced blood flow to the heart. Stable angina is triggered by emotional stress, cold temperatures, or physical exertion. Unstable angina or acute coronary syndrome often signals a heart attack. Variant angina is spasms of corona

Hemophilia

A genetic disorder that impairs the clotting mechanism in the blood. Three types of hemophilia. Type a, or classic hemophilia, accounts for 90% of cases. Type b is known as Christmas disease. type C is called Rosenthal hemophilia.
Lighter than normal mass

Myocardial Infarction (MI)

Also known as a heart attack. Involves the death of heart muscle (myocardium) as a result of reduced blood flow and prolong ischemia; tissues die after approximately 20 minutes.
Requires immediate medical attention.

Congestive heart failure

The inability of the heart to pump blood to meet the body's demands. Not a single disease; it is a syndrome or complication associated with many other diseases.
Massage is postponed until condition resolves for acute CHF. For chronic CHF, a thorough healt

An inflammation of the veins. generally affects the extremities, but any veins, including cranial veins, can be affected.
Local massage is contraindicated on the affected area. Place affected legs on a cushion to raise them above the level of the heart wh

Thrombophlebitis

When phlebitis is accompanied by a thrombus formation.

Varicose veins

Dilated Veins. caused by incompetent valves. Once dilated, they tend to remain so. condition can affect superficial or deep veins.
Avoid the area with the varicosities if pressure causes pain or if the client has risk factors or a history of clot formatio

Aortic Aneurysm

Diagnosis of enlarged aorta; due to a weakened aortic wall.
a weakness in the wall of the aorta that makes it susceptible to rupture.

Thrombocytopenia

a blood disease characterized by an abnormally small number of platelets in the blood.

Syncope

temporary loss of consciousness caused by a fall in blood pressure.
