Winston was married to a woman named Katherine. Katherine did not enjoy having sex and saw it as disgusting. Eventually they parted ways; although they are not divorced because getting divorced is not allowed.

Why does the Party think that sexual impulse, as well as the familial love, is dangerous?

Sex and love connect people, and since sexual impulses mainly deal with feelings, the party does not really have any control over them.

What do Winston and Julia Disagree about?

Winston is convinced that they are "the dead". He believes this because they have committed a Thought Crime and adultry (having sex when not married). Julia believes that they will not be caught and will stay alive.

What does Julia mean by "talking in installments"?

The two are only able to meet each other in the streets and talk while walking. If a ThoughPolice comes by, the two walk away from each other. They start talking in the middle of the sentence the next time they meet.
