Part of the dermal layer of the skin. Secrete;s sebum, an oily, odorous fluid, into the hair follicles. Sebum softens and lubricates the skin and slows water loss from the skin when the humidity is low. Sebum has bactericidal action.
What does the oral cavity consist of?
The lips, cheeks, tongue and its muscles, and the hard and soft palate.
What impairs the salivary secretion in the mouth?
The effects of medication, exposure to radiation, dehydration, and mouth breathing.
