Scientific Method
A series of steps followed by scientists to establish facts or create knowledge in this order:research, hypothesis, experiment, analysis, and conclusion
Observations
Any information collected with with 5 senses
Qualitative observations
That can be measured or counted
Quantitative observation
That describe other things without measurements or amounts
Inferences
Conclusion you make based on many different observations
Solid
Fixed volume and shape, atoms packed, and little vibration
Liquid
Fixed Volume, changing shape, particles touch, slide around, and takes the shape of container
Gas
No fixed volume or shape, gases spread out, and if inside container, gases will take that shape
Plasma (states of matter)
No fixed volume or shape, includes sun, stars, most common in the universe, and made of charged particles (+/-)
Vaporization
The change from from a liquid to a gas
Condensation
The change from a gas to a liquid
Melting
The change from a solid to a liquid
Freezing
The change from a liquid to a liquid
Sublimation
The change from a solid directly to a gas
Deposition
The change from a gas directly to a solid
