Constitution

A document which spells out the principles by which a government runs and the fundamental laws that govern a society

U.S. Federal Government

Allows states within the state to determine "moral" laws such as death penalty, access to alcohol, and concealed weapons.

Unitary

A government that gives all key powers to the national or central government

Federal (Federation)

A system of government where the central government and states share power

Confederation

The smaller parts of the country tell the country what the country will be doing.

Autocracy

a system of government by one person with absolute power.

Oligarchy

A government ruled by a few powerful people

Democracy

A political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them
