means the movement area at an aerodrome and its associated strips and safety areas, and any ground installation or facility provided at an aerodrome for the safety of aircraft operations
What is the Aerodrome traffic
All traffic in the manoeuvring area of an aerodrome, and all aircraft flying in the vicinity of an aerodrome.
What is the Aerodrome traffic circuit
means the pattern flown by aircraft operating in the vicinity of an aerodrome.
What is the Aeronautical information circular
means a notice containing information that does not qualify for the origination of a NOTAM or for inclusion in the NZAIP, but which relates to flight safety, air navigation, technical, administrative, or legislative matters.
What is the Aeronautical information publication
means a publication issued by, or with the authority of, a state and containing aeronautical information of a lasting character essential to air navigation.
What is a Aeroplane.
means a power-driven heavier-than-air aircraft deriving its lift in flight chiefly from aerodynamic reactions on surfaces, which remain fixed under given conditions.
What is the AIP supplement
means temporary changes to the information contained in the NZAIP that are published by means of special pages.
What is the Air traffic control service
a service provided for the purposes of - (1) preventing collisions - (2) between aircraft - (3) between aircraft and obstructions

What are the requirements to be carried in a registered aircraft?
- Tech Log- Flight manual - Airworthiness certificate- CAA 2129 - radio requirements form - CAA 2173 - Weight & balance
How do you show you are competent for your IFR rating?
Within 12 months:- Demonstrated to a flight examiner your competency for that aircraft category aircraft- Person who conducts demonstration signs the logbook
How do you show you are current for IFR rating?
Within 3 months:- Completed at least 3 hours instrument time ( 1 hours can be in instruments flight time)- completed at least 3 instrument approaches (1 can be completed in synthetic flight time)
How do you show you are recent for IFR rating?
Carrying out an instrument approach procedure under IFR within the 3 months in flight or in sim.
What are the medical certificate requirements to have an IFR rating?
If you have a class 2 medical, you must have class 1 hearing
What are the contents and order of a position report?
- Call sign (ABC172)- Cruise level, climbing and descent too- (Where you wanna go and where you are)
What are the requirements for ELT requirements?
- Aircraft can be ferried from the place where the plane can be taken for the ELT to installed but cannot take any passengers on the aircraft- An inoperative automatic ELT may be ferried from a place where repairs or replacement cannot be made to where it can be made without any passengers
Requirements for simulated instrument flight unless?
(1) Two pilot stations, occupied by a safety pilot w/ current pilot license(2) Safety pilot has - adequate vison, front and sides- competent observer (3) Aircraft has fully functioning dual controls.- Pitch, roll, yaw, and engine power controls
When may a person operate an aircraft in simulated flight that does not comply with function dual controls?
Can operate outside of controlled airspace, and simulating device can be removed quickly by pilot-in-command
What equipment must the PIC ensure are available to all crew memebers?
- Accurate means of indicating time- Appropriate aeronautical charts- Approach, instrument approach and departure charts- Torch for everyone - Cockpit checklist
How many degrees are you meant to fly when deviated off a flight in Controlled airspace?
when vectored off track and aircraft has deviated off track , pilot should make a standard 30 degree intercept or direction that covers the least track miles.
When must you advise ATC of an inadvertent change to flight plan?
- Any deviation from track- more than 5% if the true airspeed.- plus or minus 0.01% of mach - Revise ETA of error of two minutes
What should you do if there is an inadvertent change to flight plan?
Regain track as soon as practicable
For IFR cruising levels: at or below 13,000 feet AMSL when flying North what is the cruising altitude?
North-bound flying the ODD thousand-foot altitude
For IFR cruising levels: at or below 13,000 feet AMSL when flying South what is the cruising altitude?
South-bound flying the EVEN thousand-foot altitude
What phraseology do they use when, pilots are requesting for levels that are not from the normal cruising levels?
Non-standard" levels
What are block levels?
Levels that are cleared from ATC, level you can operate between upper and lower limits
In what cases does the FL150 change?
- When QNH is less than 980hpa- When within a radius of 20 nm from mount cook
Part 91, what devices can be taken into the aircraft?
- Electrical shavers- Pace maker- Portable voice recorders- Electronic watches- Hearing aids - Any electronic device that doesn't cause interference with the aircraft
