Fitness choices

Power walking

- elderly as it is enough movement to keep their bodies moving without it being too intense that could risk a heart attack- low-income people as it is a free way to keep their fitness up- people who want to maintain their weight as their heart rate is not as fast as needed to lose weight- free physical activity.- parents with children can't make commitments to this as they may be too busy and preoccupied.

Running

- young people (17-25) or young teenagers as their limits are more likely to impact their knees and joints while with elderly their joints might strain- low-income people as it is free- personal choice for time or if you have a goal you are wanting to achieve

Swimming

- swimmers who are trained- elderly, such as aqua aerobics, has a low impact on their joints which can strengthen their muscles with no resistance besides the water- teenagers- public pool may have an entry fee- swimming at the beach or pool at home is free.- requires you to go out to the centre and pack your stuff (unless home pool)- would take at least 45 mins to an hour of your day.

Cycling

- usually middle-aged adults (17-25)- helmet, bicycle, protective gear, fluorescent gear for night time- at least $500 - $1000- would require time out of your day to get all your gear on and for the actual bike ride.

Weight training

- above the age of 16 to 40-45 (usually)- people that have certain fitness goals (wanting to lose weight)- home gym ($1500 - $2000)- gym membership (anywhere between $10 - $90)- staying consistent with training to see results (3 times a week at least to see benefits)- around 30 mins to an hour

Tai chi

- middle-aged people 30-35- maybe elderly due to the gentle controlled movement as it decreases risks of dementia/alzheimers- at home free (youtube video)- classes ($10 - $20 per class)- unless doing it at home on a youtube video, it would require joining a group- at least an hour or two of your day with packing, driving, lessons, etc.

Pilates

- most popular in women aged 17 - 40- beneficial for elderly as it strengthens weak muscles and lengthens tight muscles- doing it through youtube at home which is free- taking classes ($20 - $30 per class)- about an hour to an hour and half

Yoga

- the elderly- middle-aged people to maintain flexibility and range of motion around muscles- mental and spiritual aspects of the state of mind and wellbeing- around $15 - $30 for classes- free at home- around about an hour to an hour and half

Emerging fitness activities

- rock climbing (cost)- park circuits (free)- paddle boarding (cost)- jump fitness (cost)
