· Wear appropriate protective equipment (Gloves, goggles, aprons)-Tie back long hair-Tie back or remove articles of clothing that can touch the chemicals or flames-Wear closed toed shoes NO sandals-Never eat or drink in LAB- Always know location of safety equipment before beginning.-Know where exits are-Never work alone in a lab-Only work on authorized activity-Only work when a teacher is present-Keep are clean throughout and make sure lab station is clean when leaving-Always wash hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds before leaving-If chemical spills occur, tell the teacher immediately and follow instructions given. ----Wash affected area on body with water for 15 minutes.-Safety always comes first.-When in doubt, ask the teacher.L

Safety Shower
-For emergency use only-When large amounts of hazardous materials are splashed, used to flush flush the affected area-Always know the location and how to use-If conducting a lab outside of class, always have another source of water, such as a hose or large container of water.

-Fountain with nozzles pointed at the eyes-Directs forceful stream at the eyes- Used when hazardous materials is splashed on eyes or face to flush the affected area-Portable eye washes can be used when working outside of the class-Use for 15 minutes
Fire Exxtinguisher
-Mounted on the wall near exit-Always point nozzle at base of fireØ PASS-PULL pin-AIM at base of fire-SQUEEZE handle-SWEEPING motion
fire blanket
-Used to wrap a student if any part of the students clothing catches on fire.-Stored in a marked container on the wall
