they were bullies (religious intolerance and Muslim/Hindu discrimination), and had a war with Spain; other nations traded more in India

How did Portugal lose a lot of its empire?

1. to spread Muslim belief 2. for the Ottoman empire to grow forever 3. to conquer all lands of the Roman empire

Three reasons for the Ottoman Empire

He was the greatest sultan; he made the empire reach its greatest size, conquered iraq, saudi arabia, hungary, and other places, built a powerful navy, and nearly took over Europe

What did Suleiman the Magnificent do?

They made allies with enemies(skillful diplomacy), there was a big technology gap, and disease

How did the Spanish conquer South America with only a few hundred men?

Destroyed the Aztec Empire; Montezuma revered him as a god-like figure

Land grants given to nobles who travel to South America, had full control of natives

Encomienda System

Natives were no longer slaves, but could be forced to do labor for public uses, and natives could own land and were paid wages (the system was heavily abused however)

Repartimento System

total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, perseverance of the saints
