main symptoms of tuberculosis

-appetite loss, fatigue-chest pain, coughing blood, productive-prolonged cough-night sweats, pallor

isoniazid

-1st line therapy in treatment of active tuberculosis-prophylaxis for exposed individuals or latent TB

isoniazid [contraindication]

-acute hepatic disease, alcoholism-caution: severe renal impairment, diabetes

isoniazid [side/adverse effects]

-hepatotoxicity-peripheral neuropathy-hyperglycemia-dizziness, tremors, blurry vision, seizure-photosensitivity!-GI: nausea, vomiting, constipation, dry mouth-thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, anemia

isoniazid requires

-frequent medical follow up and/or direct observation-notify provider for symptoms of hepatitis, neuropathy-B6 supplementation

nystatin

polyene antifungal; treats candida infection by disrupting fungi of cell membrane

nystatin [side/adverse effects]

-GI: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

fluconazole

treatment of fungal infection including candida; increases fungal cell membrane permeability

fluconazole [side/adverse effects]

-GI: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia-hepatotoxicity-rash
