Etomidate (Amidate) Indications

1. Sedation induction prior to intubation2. Sedation of intubated patients3. Preferred method of prehospital sedation in the head injury and CVA patient because it does not increase intercranial pressure due to vasodilator properties

1. Use with caution in patients with hypotension, asthma, or severe cardiovascular disease2. Verapamil may cause prolongd respiratory depression3. No analgesic properties
