Reduce friction and shearing by rolling or lifting the person.Use caution when moving persons with arthritis or osteoporosis. Always help moving them to avoid causing pain or injury.Beds are raised horinzontally to lift and move persons in bed.

Moving the person up in the bed:The person is moved up in bedd for good alighment adn comfort.You can sometimes move lightweight adults up in bed alone if they use a trapeze. However, it is best ot have help and to use a lift sheet. At least two workers are needed to move heavy, weak, adn very old persons up in bed. Always protect the person and your-self from injury.

Moving the person up in bed with a lift sheet. (It is called a turning sheet when used to turn the person. Place it under the person from the head to above the knees.Use this procedure for: - Most nursing center residents, particularly those who cannot move themselves.- Persons who are unconscious or paralyzed.- Persons recovering from spinal cord surgery or spinal cord injuries.- Older persons.

Moving the person to the side of the bed.- Repositioning and care procedures require, moving the person to the side of the bed. The person is moved to the side of the bed before turning. - One method involves moving the person in segments. The lift sheet method is used for very old persons, those with arthritis, and those recovering from spinal cord injuries or spinal cord surgery.- The person is moved to the side of the bed in segments: the upper part of the body is moved, the lower part of the body is moved, the legs and feet are moved.
