A&P l Lab Notes Flashcards

What type of microscope did you work in lab?

Compound light microscope

What is a compound light microscope?

A instrument that serves as a valuable tool in observing and studying
structures that are too small to be seen by the unaided eye, like
cell. It is an instrument of magnification that uses light.

What is the proper way to carry a compound light microscope?

Always grasp the arm of the microscope with your dominant hand and
support the base with the other hand, always keeping the microscope upright

WHat are some rules to follow when caring for the compound light microscope

Special grit-free lens paper: ocular and objective lenses, clean all
lenses before storing and again before beginning to use, remove slide
off the stage before storing, rotate the lowest-power objective lens
into position before storing, turn the ocular lens head toward the back
of the microscope before storing, wrap the cord neatly around the back
and replace the dust cover over the microscope before storing

What is the magnification of the ocular lens

10x

How many objective lenses do we have

4

List the name of each of the 4 objective lenses and list the
magnification of each lens

Low-power....4
medium- power......10
high-power......40
oil-immersion ........100

What does TM stand for

Total Magnification

How do you calculate TM

Multiple ocular lens 10x times the objective lens magnification =TM

What Is the TM when using the lower-power objective lens

10x times 4x=40x TM

What is the TM when using the medium-power objective lens

10x times 40x =100xTM

What is the TM when using the high-power objective lens

10x times 40x=400xTM

What is the TM when using the oil-immersion lens

10x time 100x=1000xTM
