Plot is the sequence of events in a narrative.

Hamadi" is about a girl named Susan, whom family is Arab because of her father and American because of her mother. Hamadi is a friend of her father. Susan starts to become very interested in Hamadi's way of life and personality. She decides to invite Hamadi to go out Christmas caroling with her, her friends, and her family. While caroling, her friend Tracy breaks down in tears over the loss of a boy she has a crush on. Hamadi turns out to be an unexpected source of comfort and wisdom.

Raymond's Run" is a story about a young girl whose has to take care of her older brother, Raymond, because he has a disability. The young girl, Squeaky, loves to run and takes it very seriously. She is also very disliked at her school, and is constantly being made fun of. Squeaky enters a race and realizes that winning isn't everything, and she sees that Raymond also has that passion for running. She wants to coach him now, so that he may have something fun to accomplish.

The Tell-Tale Heart" is a story about a man who tries to prove his sanity in the wake of having murdered an old man. The narrator/murderer kills the old man because he hates the old man's eye. Once he does this, police come to the house to make sure everything is alright. The man starts to hear a sound that he just can't get out of his head. Guilt over killing the old man overwhelms him, and he tells the cops what he had done.

The Adventure of the Speckled Band" is about a young woman named Helen stoner who contacts Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson for aid in foiling the villainous plans of her stepfather, Grimesby Roylott. Grimesby Roylott ended up killing her sister, and trying to kill her to get the money that his diseased wife had saved for them.

Fox Hunt" is about an Asian American boy named Andy Liang who wants to excel on the PSAT to uphold his families ancestors reputation. He meets a pretty girl at the bus stop. He eventually finds out that his ancestor was coached by a fox spirit and that's how he was so good in school. He also discovers that Lee is a fox spirit and he is part fox himself.

Old Ben" is a story about a boy who finds a big, black, bull snake while walking in a clover field. The boy realizes how gentle, friendly, and sweet the snake is. The boy brings the snake home to his father and mother. Both the boy's mother father learn to appreciate and love Old Ben because of what he did to keep care of the farm. However at the end of the story, Old Ben died.

Tears of Autumn" takes place in Japan, the Pacific Ocean, and in California and tells the story of Hana Omiya, a girl from Japan. Hana wants to escape her village because of the stranglehold her family has on her and so she can fully experience life. Hana is being pushed to marry a man whom she has no interest in. This story covers her time in the village, as well as her journey on a boat to the United States in search of a new life.

Flowers for Algernon" is a story about a character study of one man, Charlie Gordon. Charlie is a 32-year-old developmentally disabled man who has the opportunity to undergo a surgical procedure that will dramatically increase his mental capabilities. The operation goes wrong and once Charlie starts to get smart, he starts to digress into how he once was at the beginning.

The Outsiders" is a story about a teen gang in rural Oklahoma. The Greasers are perpetually at odds with the Socials, a rival group. When Greasers Ponyboy and Johnny get into a brawl that ends in the death of a Social member. The boys are forced to go into hiding (Dallas, one of the Greasers, helps them). Johnny ends up dying shortly after saving children from a burning Church. Dally then steals and then dies from a police shooting him. Ponyboy is then left to continue on with his young life while trying to stay golden.
