CPU

Central processing unit-brain of the computer-hardware that controls the operation of the computer.

Operating System

Software that controls the execution of a computer's functions and programs

Input Device

Peripheral device (anything connected to the computer) that is used to enter commands or information into a computer, such as a keyboard, mouse, modem, scanner, or touch screen

RAM

Random access memory-working memory of a computer used for quick, but temporary storage

Output Device

Peripheral device through which information from the computer is communicated to the outside world, such as a monitor, printer, or speakers

Tower Case

Computer housing that contains and protects the major components of a computer, such as the motherboard, power supply, and hard disk drive

Keyboard

Primary input device which has letters, numbers, and functional keys to input information and control the operation of a computer

Hard Drive

Case that contains rotating hard disks which magnetically stores all the data

Monitor

Primary output device that displays activity on a computer. Also known as a computer screen.

Copy

to make a duplicate of text, graphic, document, file, etc. Usually puts the item into the clipboard for use elsewhere. Does not affect the original.

Clipboard

a temporary storage space which is used to transfer text or graphics (or both) within a document being edited or between documents. The data is put into the clipboard with either the "cut" or "copy" command, then "paste" is used to put it into its new location.

Cut

to remove a block of material, which is then held in the clipboard for deletion or pasting elsewhere

Animation

visual effects applied to individual items on the slide such as graphics, titles or bullet points.

Slide

a single page of a presentation

Transition

visual movements that are created as one slide changes to another slide
