Abnorma Psych: chapter 3; What Kinds of Standards Must Tests or Evaluations Meet?

Reliability:

Yields the same results repeatedly under the same circumstances

Test-retest reliability

Determines whether a measure yields the same results when given to an individual at 2 different points of time

Internal consistency

A measure is considered reliable if various parts of the measure yields similar or consistent results.

Interrater reliability

Determines consistency of responses when different judges or raters administer the measure

Validity:

Performs the function it was designed to perform

Predictive validity

Refers to the ability of a test or measure to predict or foretell how a person will behave, respond, or perform

Criterion-related validity

Determines whether a measure is related to the phenomenon in question

Construct validity

is actually a series of tasks with one common theme: all are designed to test whether a measure is related to certain phenomenon that are empirically or theoretically thought to be related to that measure

Content validity

Refers to the degree to which a measure is representative of the phenomenon being measured.
