Weight

Is determined by the mass of an object.

Ounce (oz)

A customary unit of weight equal to 1/10 of a pound.

Pound (lb)

A customary unit of weight equal to 16 ounces. (16 ounces = 1 pound)

Ton

A customary unit of weight equal to 2000 pounds.

Mass

The amount of matter in an object.

Gram (g)

A unit of mass in the metric measurement system. (Ex. one large paper clip is about 1 gram)

Kilogram (kg)

A metric unit of mass equal to 1000 grams. (1000 grams = 1 kilogram)

Capacity

The greatest amount that a container can hold.

Cup (c)

A customary unit of capacity equal to 8 fluid ounces. (1 cup = 8 fluid ounces)

Quart (qt)

A customary unit of capacity equal to 4 cups or 2 pints. (1 quart = 4 cups or 1 quart = 2 pints)

Pint (pt)

A customary unit of capacity equal to 2 cups. (1 pint = 2 cups)

Gallon (gal)

A customary unit of capacity equal to 4 quarts. (1 gallon = 4 quarts)

Milliliter (ml)

A metric unit of capacity where 1000 milliliters equal 1 liter. (1000 milliliter = 1 liter. Ex. A tear drop)

Is the basic unit of capacity in the metric system. (1 liter = 1000 milliliter; Ex. A large water bottle)
