Define location and the two types

general as in next to, nearby or across the street

Place can be described in by two different types of characteristics, they are

human characteristics and physical characteristics

What is a human characteristic?

people, culture, buildings

What is a physical characteristic?

landforms, climate, animal life

Define region

an area defined by common characteristics like Michigan is in the Midwest of the United States

Define Human/Environment Interaction

how people adapt to the environment or change it

Define Equator

An imaginary circle that divides the earth into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere

Define Prime Meridian

An imaginary line that divides the earth into the Eastern Hemisphere and the Western Hemisphere

Define latitude

Also called parallels, circle the Earth parallel to the Equator

Define longitude

Also called meridians, circle the Earth from Pole to Pole
