A data value that is much higher or lower than the other data values in a set.


A value that separates a data set into 100 parts.

Percentile Rank

The percentage of data values less than or equal to a given value.


The values that divide a set of data into four equal parts, where the 2nd quartile value is the median of the set, the 1st quartile value is the median of the lower half of the set, and the 3rd quartile value is the median of the upper half of the set.

Radical Expression

An expression that contains a radical.

Range of a Set of Data

The difference between the maximum and the minimum values of a data set.

Rationalize The Denominator

To rewrite an expression so there are no radicals in any denominator.

Square Root Function

A function that contains the independent variable in the radicand of a square root.
